BC114 Abalone Daisho tsubas,
There are two families that signed their work Echizen Ju Kinai. Both starting about mid 17th century. They were the Ishikawa family and the Takahashi family. It is thought that they worked in close proximity to each other. If there is not a generation designation on the tsuba then it is impossible to determine the date. There are tsubas in existance that state the family they are from so by examining the signature chisel cut we can make a guess as to the family affiliation. I believe the dai tsuba is from the Takahashi family and the sho is from the Ishikawa family. Both are very good work. Iron. the Dai has a NBTHK Hozon certificate.
