SSU#1. ) Soshu Mumei Osuriage Daito with NBTHK Certificate Tokubetsu kicho to Shinto Tsunahiro.

This 27 1/2" sword is in full temper ( hitatsura) with a bohi stopping in marudome a couple inches in the nakago.  The grain is an itame with the temper in all sorts of shapes coming out of the nakago and running to the yokote. Some are round, misshapened c shaped splotches of temper covering the whole ji area. The boshi is right under the Ko shinogi with strings going forward. It measures just under 1 1/4" at the machi and just under 3/4" at the yokote. It is 1/4" thick at the munemachi. It is in a kiriwood shirasaya with copper habaki. Condition is good in old polish.

This is a very interesting sword and one a bushi would have been proud of owning. The blade is  in excellent condition and has a certificate from the early 1980's stating it is Shinto Tsunahiro. This NBTHK certificate is Tokubetsu Kicho. This sword has been owned for many years by a Hawaii collector and we have often thought that it should be resubmitted to the Hozon shinsa as we feel it is a Koto sword rather than a Shinto work of art.
